RealWear acquires augmented reality headset startup Almer
RealWear, a Vancouver, Wash.-based maker of augmented reality headsets for enterprise customers, acquired Almer Technologies, a Switzerland-based startup that developed a similar AR device for industrial settings.
- Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Almer will add 22 employees to RealWear’s headcount, which now is 65 people.
- The two companies shared a common investor, enterprise AR software developer TeamViewer. The acquisition was “strategically and financially backed by TeamViewer,” according to a press release.
- Founded in 2016, RealWear sells rugged head-mounted voice-controlled devices that project a virtual Android tablet below a user’s line of sight. Frontline workers in manufacturing, automotive, and healthcare use the product for remote video calling, document navigation, guided workflow, mobile forms, data visualization, and more.
